Priston Mill wedding photographer
Last weekend I was lucky enough to be asked to be Rachel and Oliver’s Priston Mill wedding photographer. Being a Bristol wedding photographer, this venue is one I have shot at a few times now. Set in the rolling hills of the Somerset countryside, Priston Mill is the most idyllic and elegant venue only seven miles from Bath and ten miles from Bristol. Priston Mill used to be a family run farm and it is now the picture-perfect countryside wedding venue. The reason I enjoy capturing couples’ special day at this venue is down to the stunning backdrop of colourful flowers and lit up fairy lights.
Priston Mill has two venues in which you can tie the knot, the Watermill and the Tythe Barn. This stunning barn dates back to the 1720s and includes some historic features such as the stone walls, cast iron stone fireplace and oak beam rafters. This sets the perfect backdrop for images as you walk down the aisle surrounded by friends and family. The barn is so simple to decorate, with flowers, candles, fair lights. It really doesn’t take much to turn this venue into your perfect day.
As the bride walked into the scene of her wedding day she had to go through the rose covered archway and follow the path of lavender to her groom inside the barn. What a picturesque backdrop!

The wedding day at Priston Mill
I had a funny connection to Rachel which I only found out on the day. She went to school with me but was in my brother’s year. Her and her bridesmaids used to come and play at my house, which is so funny! What a small world. Anyway, Rachel and Oliver’s love story began online, and they now live in Bristol with their gorgeous white cat (which of course I got a snap of on the day).
Rachel and her bridal party got ready at her Mum’s house in Wells, Somerset. The bridesmaids were wearing floral dresses because Rachel is obsessed with Liberty and Cath Kidston. There was champagne flowing, and Oliver had made a CD for Rachel to listen to in the morning. HOW CUTE! Rachel’s brother had organised for her to be picked up and taken to Priston Mill in an epic car.
We arrive at Priston Mill at the Tythe barn where they were to say their vows at about 2pm. It was an emotional moment as Rachel walked down the aisle to be greeted by her new husband grinning from ear to ear. It was a civil ceremony at Priston Mill led by a registrar. Everyone then had some drinks as we lined the lavender path with confetti throwers. Followed by some group and couple portraits in the picturesque gardens and kids play park. Rachel and Oli just had to have a go on the zip line! The lovely celebrations at Priston Mill were then followed by speeches which were given by Oliver, his best man, Rachel’s Dad, and her maid of honour. It was then time to cut the cake and do their first dance.
“They are so beautiful I can’t believe it! Thank you so much, you are so talented and I’m so grateful.” - Rachel & Oliver
My approach to wedding photography
Rachel and Oliver were keen for me to capture lots of candid moments of them and their guests enjoying themselves at Priston Mill. I am a great lover of colour in my work; therefore, it was wonderful to capture all the blooming flowers withing the garden. I also had a second shooter, my good friend Bella who was there to capture as much enjoyment throughout the day. I really loved being Rachel and Oliver’s Priston Mill wedding photographer, it was such a pleasure to be part of their special day!
If you are interested in finding out more about me as a Bristol wedding photographer and my packages, please do get in touch, I would love to hear from you!
Being a Bristol wedding photographer
I am so lucky to do the job that I do because it allows me to meet such fantastic like-minded people. It is so wonderful to be a part of someone’s special day. I think my style seems to attract the more laid-back couples. I am very passionate about my job, and I hope that shows in my work.
