James and Sarah’s Gothic themed celebration
What an honour it was to be James and Sarah’s Manor by the Lake Wedding Photographer. Sarah’s maid of honour had met me at a fair as she is also a photographer and passed my details on to the couple. I felt so lucky that she had put us in touch and that the couple trusted me to photograph their special day.
Manor by the Lake was the perfect Cotswold venue for James and Sarah’s gothic celebrations. Filled with history and bursting with character, this venue offers the most amazing picturesque backdrop.
Manor by the Lake
Manor by the Lake is set in Cheltenham, the heart of the Cotswolds. The grand rooms are the perfect place to have your bride and groom preparations in the morning of the big day. The manor has a gorgeous staircase leading to the ceremony room, with the reception rooms next door in a different building. The stunning gardens allow for plenty of photograph opportunities, around the lake and in front of the white bandstand.
Manor by the Lake gives you exclusive use and access to the entire manor and gardens. The Manor venue feels like you have stepped into a private oasis. The staff are so friendly and are there to help you plan and create your dream wedding.
The Wedding Day at Manor by the Lake
I turned up in the morning to be greeted by Sarah and her bridesmaids getting ready in the manor for the big day. Sarah’s spectacular black dress was hung on the four-poster bed with the black and red veil draped over it. The vibe in the girl’s room was chilled out with some nerves. My second photographer Harry went to meet James and the boys who were getting ready downstairs, they were excited and ready for the day.
Once Sarah had her hair and make-up done and a sip of prosecco to calm the nerves the ceremony was ready to begin. The décor in the ceremony room was so quirky; there was fabric pumpkins, a remembrance table for loved ones who couldn’t be there and gorgeous black and red drapes covering the coffin centrepiece of the room. The bridesmaids walked up the aisle with their broomsticks instead of bouquets, which I thought was a fantastic idea, one that I had never seen before. After the emotional and gorgeous ceremony, the guests went outside for welcome drinks only to be greeted by a harpist, bouncy castle, and giant games.
Sarah, James, and I then walked around the gardens for some couple photographs. We came across some ghosts that Sarah had spent ages making for the big day. We also managed to set off some smoke bombs and get some epic photos of the bride in her dress and her bridesmaids looking up at her. Once the photographs were done it was time to head into the gothic dressed reception room where guests had a lovely meal. The evening celebrations started with some speeches and dancing, and the board game café from Bristol joined with plenty of games for all ages to get involved with.
It was such a lovely day and I feel so lucky that this wonderful couple asked me to be their Manor by the Lake Wedding Photographer.
