Liam and Lucy’s Winter Wonderland celebrations

I was so thrilled to be asked to be Liam and Lucy’s Ash Barton Estate Wedding Photographer. I met the couple at a fair in Somerset and we got on like a house on fire. Liam is also a photographer, so we bonded over smoke bombs and cameras.

Liam and Lucy got married at Ash Barton Estate in November, it was a magical Winter Wonderland themed celebration. One of Lucy’s family members owns the estate, so it was a true family occasion.

Ash Barton Estate Wedding Venue

Ash Barton Estate is a breath-taking venue set in the countryside of North Devon. It has a farm barn feel to it. The barn is a blank canvas; therefore, you can decorate however you like. The gardens and surrounding fields speak for themselves, they are picturesque and have plenty of options for exploring on your couple portrait session. This Devon wedding venue is unique with a laid-back atmosphere and easy-going staff there to help you create your dream celebration.

The house is where the bride and groom preparations happen in the morning, with rooms for plenty of guests to stay. Couples can choose to have their reception and ceremony in the barns or there is the option to have a tipi or marquee. The venue is over a mile from their nearest neighbour so therefore there is no curfew or reason to turn the volume down.

The Wedding Day at Ash Barton Estate

I arrived to the venue and found Lucy and her bridesmaids in the house getting all glammed up and ready for the big event. Lucy has been dreaming of this day for a long time, so the vibe was excited and happy. Liam was with his groomsmen upstairs getting suited and booted.

The ceremony took places in The Old Chapel. It looked so beautiful, there was fairy lights everywhere and Christmas trees and candles for the Winter Wonderland vibe. Liam and Lucy had a lady sat at the back of the ceremony painting the scene which I thought was such a beautiful idea, a nice keepsake of the big moment.

After celebrating with a confetti line and some group shots it was time for the couple, videographer, and I to go off exploring and capturing some couple portraits. Of course, at Liam’s request we had to do some smoke bombs! They looked so epic against the backdrop of the barns and the rich green grass. We also used the courtyard with the stone brick walls and green barn doors for some slightly more romantic shots.

The evening celebrations then started, the reception was kicked off with some speeches and a yummy breakfast. The barn décor was spectacular, Winter Wonderland themed. Lucy’s Dad had made a sleigh with reindeers, and there was snow and glitter all over the place. The dancefloor was epic, brightly coloured with ‘LOVE’ letters overlooking it. There was even a pool table, a secret football pitch and a trampoline for the kids.

What an epic day this was, I was so happy that I was asked to be Lucy and Liam’s Ash Barton Estate Wedding Photographer. If you like the photographs, then I would love to hear from you so we can discuss your photography. Please use the form bellow to get in touch.
