Maddie and Chris’s family farmyard wedding celebration

It was such a pleasure to be asked to be Maddie and Chris’s Bath Farm Wedding Photographer. This wedding felt very special because it took place at Maddie’s family farm in Priston, near Bath. Maddie was next in line to take over the family farm so for her and Chris to celebrate their love in such a meaningful place was wonderful.

The Wedding Day

Maddie and her bridesmaids (her two sisters) got ready in their parents farmhouse. Maddie’s dress hung up in the window with the sun beaming behind it and her shoes glistening. The rustic charm of the farmhouse near Bath added a touch of nostalgia to the anticipation of the day.

The ceremony took place at Priston church near Bath. Maddie and Chris exchanged vows while Maddie’s Mum officiated the ceremony as the priest. As Bath’s newly married couple left the church they were greeted by stakes and pitchforks shaped into an arch out of the church, a farmer’s tradition when one is married. The guests lined the arch and celebrated with some confetti. As a surprise to the married couple, they were greeted by two old tractors and trailers to escort the Bride, Groom, and bridal party back to the farmhouse.

The festivities continued back at the farmhouse under a sprawling marquee in the garden. The décor consisted of tractor wheels, flowers inside welly boots, bunting, tractor table names and a photobooth. Guests enjoyed the gardens while having a drink and we took some beautiful group photographs from the window of the house.

Photographing a Bath Farm Wedding

This Bath Farm wedding had plenty of photo opportunities. I wanted to capture the emotion and joy of the day. The thing I love most about farm weddings is that there are so many backdrops for potential photographs. Maddie, Chris, and I walked around the land for the couple portraits, and we came across some cows, which obviously I was very excited to capture. We also found some gorgeous rustic farm barns which we took some photos in front of. I also got very excited when I saw a massive pile of tyres because this made for a fun quirky shot. On the way back I asked Chris to just walk hand in hand with his new bride and do some twirls and practice their first dance.

Maddie and Chris booked my 5-hour package for their wedding photography which meant I was there to cover the preparations all the way up to the speeches before the wedding breakfast. It was such a lovely day and I feel very lucky that I was asked to be this couple’s Bath Farm Wedding Photographer.
