Steph and Shannon’s West Midlands Safari Park Wedding
I met Steph and Shannon at a photography studio that I used to work at when I photographed their couple’s portrait session. We got chatting and I told them I was a wedding photographer. I was so happy when they asked me to be their West Midlands Safari Park wedding photographer. I got on so well with the couple and we had such a laugh when I did their portrait session in the studio so I knew I would be a good match to capture their special day.
West Midlands Safari Park is such an awesome place to get married! Who wouldn’t want to be surrounded by safari animals while they say, “I Do”.
West Midlands Safari Park Wedding Venue
West Midlands Safari Park offers a unique and unusual wedding experience. The weddings take place in Spring Grove House with the option to get married outdoors or inside within the safari-coloured walls. There are rooms for your guests to stay and for you to get ready in. There are several chill out areas such as the bar, reception room and the amazing, vaulted brick cellar where the party is usually held.
There is the Treetops Pavilion within the site, another option to hold your reception. You can add a stay in the safari lodges to any package with West Midlands Safari Park which I think is just amazing! Stay in a lodge that overlooks either the Elephants, Cheetahs, Rhinos, Giraffe or Tigers.
The Wedding Day
I met Steph at Spring Grove House where she was getting ready with her Mum and Bridesmaids. The house was beautiful, it had the most gorgeous staircase with a huge animal mural up the wall. The décor was so fun, leopard print carpets, animal paintings and sculptures. While Steph’s bridal party was getting ready, we nipped down to the reception room where the most amazing cake was to be seen. The wedding cake was four tiers and painted a jungle theme, Zebra, Leopard print and greens. It had small figurines of a Tiger, Elephant, Monkey and Lion.
Once I had been with Steph for a bit, the wedding coordinator drove me to the Safari Lodges where Shannon was with her family. I was so amazed by how awesome this bridal preparation room was! It was an African safari inspired thatched lodge overlooking Giraffes. Once Shannon was ready, we headed to the ceremony area. The bride and bridal party walked down the aisle to be greeted by Shannon at the end. What a lovely ceremony it was with lots of photo opportunities of emotional guests. After the ceremony I lined the staircase with guests and confetti and had the two brides stand in the hall at the bottom for a magical celebration photograph. After some group photographs Steph, Shannon and I headed into the fun fair. This was the perfect spot for some couple photographs as the fair was filled with colour and vibrancy. When we got back there was some garden games and the drinks were flowing. It was now time to be seated for the wedding breakfast and begin some heartfelt speeches. The evening ended with a big old party down in the cellar where the brides had their first dance.
